about
"Waiting" is a tribute to our Soldiers families, friends and fellow countrymen who wait for our troops and worry about their safe return from the war.
Peter Haley wrote the song for Lieutenant Commander Christian Hatch of the Royal Canadian Navy, and his family, when he was serving his 3rd tour of Duty in Afghanistan.
Peter was also inspired by his grandmother's experiences when his grandfather fought over seas in WWII...and her worries about not hearing anything for months at a time.
Even though communications have improved for our troops' families, the waiting...and the worrying... continues.
WoundedWarriors.ca is an independent not-for-profit charity that supports Canadian soldiers wounded
overseas. It is primarily a fundraising mechanism that supports existing programs that tend to injured soldiers.
Basia Lyjak is a straight-up rock chick whose catchy, well crafted tunes and tight, explosive vocals
hark back to a day when singing came from your heart and your gut, rather than a pitch corrector in a studio.

Waiting (2009 – Pete Haley)
As I sit in my room, and the war surrounds you,
I’m waiting dear, holding your picture near.
TV shows our troops faces, but I can’t see yours anywhere,
My heart aches dear, knowing you’re far from here.
Chorus
Will I see you again? And feel the touch of your strong hands,
And kiss you dear, as I hold you near.
I pray it won’t be long, before you’re coming home...
And I’m waiting.
The kids and I talk at night, about the war and if you’re alright,
Are you scared Mom? When’s Daddy coming home?
And when I tuck them in bed,
I give them kisses from you on their foreheads,
As they sleep there, so peaceful and unaware.
Chorus
Will I see you again? And feel the touch of your strong hands,
And kiss you dear, as I hold you near.
I pray it won’t be long, before you’re coming home...
And I’m waiting.
I see your face every night, after my eyes close tight,
And tears fall dear, as I’m sleeping.
And when I open my eyes, another lonely sunrise,
But we’re so proud dear, of all of you over there.
Chorus
Will I see you again? And feel the touch of your strong hands,
And kiss you dear, as I hold you near.
I know I’ll see you again,
To say “I love you” for all that you’ve done,
In fields of dust, you fight for us,
I pray it won’t be long, before you’re coming home...
And I’m...waiting.
